The Basile Studio Shop Open House at the Indianapolis Art Center

It was my honor a few short weeks ago to get a call from Kate Oberreich, fine artist, friend, and newly promoted manager of the Basile Studio Shop in the Indianapolis Art Center at 820 East 67th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46220.  She asked if I’d be interested in offering some work for sale there. Of course I would, and did!!!
And the best new is that the shop is newly renovated, revived and re-opened, and is hosting a Holiday Party tomorrow: Friday, December 10, 6-8 pm, in conjunction with the opening of the Winter exhibits. (http://indplsartcenterblog.com/2010/12/01/363/).
You will find the shop beautifully nestled near the warmly welcoming entrance to the Michael Graves designed Indianapolis Art Center. It’s directly across the vestibule from the Welcome desk, where friendly and efficient Guest Services greet you with their shining, friendly faces. What a good reason to visit such a beautiful space!
The Basile Studio Shop features the fine art and fine craft of local and regional artists, many with an Art Center connection. The shop offers new hours, Monday-Friday noon-7pm, Saturday noon-4pm and new this year, the shop will be open on Sundays (noon-4pm) until Christmas.

Some of the artist and fine craftspeople include: Gayla Hodson (painting), Susan Hodgin (painting), Matt Kenyon (glass), Chuck Bruce (jewelry), Stephen Rapp (woodworking), Sandi Finney (ceramics), Peggy Briedenbach (ceramics), Lisa Pelo-McNiece (glass), Wug Laku (Waterstone Wood Boxes) and many more.
You may know that I found my love of metal at the Art Center, and have a soft spot for this wonderful community art-making place.  I’m also currently on faculty there and am showing some work in the Basile Studio Shop, so you can get a full dose of metal fever if you like!
While you are at it, stay with the Handmade theme for the holidays. Purchase handmade gifts at the Basile Studio Shop or from your local friendly artisan, and proudly give a gift  from the heart, made with love in the Heartland.
