I’m excerpting from my recent newsletter, and updating my blog as to my whereabouts these past several weeks. But, unlike overprotective fathers, my blog doesn’t really care. It’s rather an inanimate object, yes? All kinds of bad keyword search Google-ish damanable metric-adverse things may have happened to my blog during my hiatus. I’ll never know for sure. However, just in case someone stumbles across these words, I’m compelled to apologize for not posting for awhile.
My plate has been overflowing with more activities than I can name. I took an this unusual break from my monthly newsletter for the past two months due to a temp job working the primary election – which turned into a job with major overtime! I’m glad I did it…but I won’t be doing it again. It gave me an appreciation for artists who work full time and try to fit in their art on the side. It validated that I’m not meant to split my time! So my focus will be on my custom clients, the creation of jewelry, and jewelry instruction. Feels good to know – again.
I’m back in the studio in fits and starts, and have completed a few projects for my lovely, patient clients, and more are underway. I’m currently making a wedding band for the engagement ring pictured below, and a wedding band for the groom based upon the bride’s ring. Soon, I’l be sharing photos of more “dreams made by hand.” Until then, thanks for sticking around.

Thanks to my lovely and dear friend, Krista Bermeo of Krista Bermeo Studios, I was recently introduced to the owners of Arts A Poppin, a great, funky find in the heart of the Mass Ave Arts District. After a brief and torrid meeting with owner Jill Kinsinger and her sister, Lorri Potter, I became their newest jewelry artisan. Besides carrying some of my existing line of work, the store is also carrying a new line of lightweight, heavily hammered jewelry made from recycled aluminum and 14 karat gold-fill called “Matrix.” It includes wide cuff bracelets, matching earrings and pendants. Our relationship may be new but all indications point to the beginning of something special. The duo of Jill Kinsinger and Lorri Potter both have the love for Art. They also enjoy supporting other artists so they joined forces of Art and Business – hence Arts A Poppin’. Here is a partial description, directly from their website:
With 98% of our product made in the USA and more than 170 local, regional and national artists represented in our shop you are sure to find that special gift for you or that special someone in your life. We take pride in providing quality handcrafted items that are unique, whimsical or just plan funky for everyone to enjoy. We offer recycled/repurposed items from billboard vinyl bags to clocks and jewelry made from antique artifacts. Let’s not forget the yard art made from just plain old junk tools and parts.
That fits well with my handmade work and my mission. But wait, there’s more! There is a classroom area in the lower level of the store, and I’ve been invited to teach there. Â The classes will be kept simple and straightforward, and will probably begin in July. Â This classroom area happens to be right next door to my friend Krista’s studio, so you may see her at work on her delicious handmade art glass jewelry designs as well.
I’m excited, of course, about expanding my presence in Indianapolis. The greatest part about it, though, is that this feels right. I hope you Indianapolitains who are reading this will stop in soon to see what’s shaking at Arts A Poppin’!

Do you ever have moments where life just goes ahead and tells you that you are headed in the right direction, and just keep on doing what you are doing? I hope so. Because they are real gifts, and we don’t always get as many of those as we need. When we do, though, it’s important to make note of them. Bear witness to the good. That’s what I’m doing here.
I’ll keep it brief so you will be encouraged to watch this uplifting video (below). Or skip right to it, it’s okay.
This weekend: I taught at the Indianapolis Art Center. And it went sooo well. My four students were “dream students.” Happy to be present, focused, attentive, helpful and kind towards one another. And adept! Good thinkers, good designers…I could go on, and probably will in a future post.
Last night: I dreamed my good friend Ginger (of LEDE Studio & Gallery) held up my work in front of all of her studio helpers and clients and declared it great. Wooo-hooo! I talked to my son on the phone this week – yay for moms of grown men!
This morning: Email inquiries for custom work have been coming in, and even though it is challenging to provide creative blueprints with words over email, things are progressing. And I received some photos from Emily Schwank of Raincliffs Photography, who will be doing a show in my little gallery – my first time showing an artists work – and I about cried I love those shots so much. More on that soon.
This afternoon: met some friends for lunch, where I also ran into a couple of other friends, and it was really sublime.
This evening: A “virtual” friend I met during an online business coaching class held her own teleconference this evening. I got some goodies there – I discovered some astrological info that sheds some light on my life path. Kinda a biggie (Thank you, Lisa Zimmerman of Soul Level Solutions). To cap it all off, I received an email from a very dear friend who I have been missing lately – containing the video below.
Draw your own conclusions. Hopefully they will all be uplifting ones!
P.S. – the more I thought about the good things that have come up lately, the more grateful I became, because the process reminded me of even more good stuff. Try it! and, I cried when I watched the video.
