At the end of August every year for the past twenty years, the Indianapolis Arts Council hosts Start With Art, a luncheon that kicks of the fall art, gallery, and cultural season. The Arts Council is the organization responsible for many artists grants and the genius partnership with the City that resulted in the magnificent 46 for XLVI Mural Project.
The well-attended Start with Art event presented four awards in recognition of distinguished arts service: Corporate, Small Business, Volunteer/Patron and ARTful Impact.

This years award was presented to TURF:IDADA Art Pavilion, which took place in the old Indiana State Museum building (previously the interim Central Library and the old City Hall). For six weeks in the beginning of 2012, the space was transformed by cleanup, construction crews, and 21 mostly local artists to create a experience of art. Around 10,000 art and sports fans visited during the run, which coincided with Super Bowl XLVI.

Nancy Lee, Mark Ruschman and Abbey Pintar Chambers accept 2012 ARTI award on behalf of TURF:IDADA Art Pavilion

It’s rewarding for a not-for-profit arts organization with a very aggressive goal and a very small budget to be recognized in such a momentous way! Thank you to the Arts Council of Indianapolis.
VISIT the ARTI award this First Friday, September 4, from 6-10 pm at the IDADA Annual Members Show in Gallery No. 2 at the Harrison Center for the Arts. Go here for more information.
