Handmade Labradorite and Moonstone Necklace

Handmade necklace featuring a large, angular Labradorite cabochon with a checkerboard cut moonstone. It was impossible to photograph the flash in the layers, known as the Schiller effect, of the labradorite. So I made a little video, below. The checkerboard cut moonstone also has its own effect, known as adularescence, which is the glow that shows when the stone is held at different angles. Two of my favorite stones in one necklace – I love the magic that these two stones create.

I made this necklace using sterling silver and traditional fabrication techniques, including sawing, filing, soldering, stamping, and stone setting. The woven foxtail chain is manufactured. I made the extender chain, clasp, and hammered charm at the end of the chain. The extender chain makes the necklace adjustable from 18 inches to 21 inches long. One of a kind stone and design!
