Akoya Pearl earrings in 14 karat yellow gold are dimensional while remaining lightweight and easy to wear. Akoya pearls were the first ever cultured pearls, created by Kokichi Mikimoto in 1893 (Mikimoto website) and are so named for the type of oyster they come from. Akoya pearls are prized for their superb luster and roundness. Before pearls were cultured, they were so rare as to be out of reach by all except royalty or the ultra wealthy.
These earrings are one-of-a-kind and arrive gift boxed.
Approx. 1 3/4 inches long from the top of the ear wires to the bottom of the dangle, 1/2 inch wide. 5 millimeter AA-grade pearls.
All metals are recycled and responsible studio practices are used in my shop.
